This rare vintage English Canterbury faux bamboo magazine rack on wheels is a beautifully crafted and genuinely collectible Hollywood Regency and chinoiserie accent find. The dark faux bamboo construction and original caster wheels give this piece a refined, period-appropriate character that speaks to the English tradition of quality decorative furniture with genuine functional purpose.
The Canterbury form, originally designed in England to hold sheet music and later adapted for magazines, newspapers, and files, is one of the most elegant and practical small furniture forms ever produced. This dark faux bamboo example with wheels elevates the classic format with the warm, exotic material quality that made faux bamboo so beloved among Hollywood Regency and English Regency design enthusiasts.
The caster wheels make this a wonderfully practical rolling accent piece that can be repositioned easily throughout a room, working as a magazine rack, file holder, LP record stand, or decorative accent beside a sofa, chair, or desk. Genuinely rare in this dark finish and wheeled configuration.
